This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Tax Manager ready to make their mark in a global organization. Based in Johannesburg, you’ll play a pivotal role on our international tax team, contributing to a dynamic, fast-paced, and purpose-driven environment.

Your Mission

As our Tax Manager based in South Africa, you’ll take ownership of tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax due diligence across multiple regions, including South Africa. You’ll be instrumental in supporting global tax initiatives while ensuring the highest standards of compliance and strategy.

What You’ll Do:

Tax Compliance

  • Oversee and manage corporate tax compliance for South African and other regions, ensuring timely and accurate filings
  • Assist in preparing quarterly tax provision workings for the regions assigned
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders such as finance, legal and advisors
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local tax regulations and global tax policies

Transfer Pricing:

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of global transfer pricing policies
  • Prepare and/or review transfer pricing documentation
  • Collaborate with the global tax team to ensure intercompany transactions are compliant with local and international regulations
  • Manage inter-company agreements

Tax Due Diligence and Geo-Expansion:

  • Conduct tax due diligence for new business ventures and geographic expansions
  • Provide tax advisory support including research and analysis for cross-border transactions and new market entries
  • Assess the tax implications of business decisions and provide strategic recommendations

CbCR and Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax data for Group entities

Ad Hoc Tax Projects:

  • Support one-off tax projects, including audits and automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, and operations) to address tax-related matters

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local finance teams, external advisors, and tax authorities
  • Provide training and guidance where necessary to local teams on tax compliance and regulatory changes

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
    • Professional qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CTA, ADIT) is highly desirable
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Direct tax
    • Experience in transfer pricing and/or international tax within a multinational corporation or a Big 4 firm
    • Exposure to tax due diligence and cross-border transactions is a strong advantage
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of South African corporate tax laws and regulations
    • Familiarity with OECD guidelines on transfer pricing and CbCR
    • Proficiency in MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global team
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

The base salary range for this position is 760,000 ZAR− 1,140,000 ZAR plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills. Final offers will reflect these considerations and may vary accordingly.
