Description
Channel Sales Engineer
About Mimecast
The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted.
Work Protected.
Overview
This role owns the technical relationship and presales enablement for Mimecast's National Channel Partners. You'll provide technical guidance, training, and hands-on support that helps partners evangelize Mimecast and win deals on their own. This isn't a role where you carry a single deal to close; it's a role where you multiply Mimecast's technical reach across an entire partner community through certification, enablement, and trusted relationships at every level.
You'll work closely with the UK Channel Team, Customer Experience, Service Delivery/Support, Professional Services, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to keep partners technically sharp and aligned to Mimecast's go-to-market motion.
What You'll Do
- Own the technical relationship with national partner-based Reseller Partners and Managed Service Providers
- Drive and roll out the Mimecast certification program across the National Channel Partner community
- Deliver the partner technical enablement program, including presales training on new releases and go-to-market initiatives
- Present at Mimecast Partner Connect events and run regular update webinars to keep partners informed and upskilled
- Run joint partner and customer demos that bring the full Mimecast platform story to life
- Develop and maintain executive- and manager-level relationships with National Partner leadership
- Enable partners to identify and qualify better-fit opportunities to grow their Mimecast base revenue
- Maintain and grow the partner technical community, tracking and measuring partner engagement over time
- Participate in and lead initiatives that improve Mimecast's positioning in the market with partners, customers, and analysts
- Work closely with internal content creation teams to keep partner-facing technical material current and high-quality
What You'll Bring
Channel relationships are your specialty. You have a demonstrated track record of building and managing technical relationships with resellers, MSPs, or vendors, and you know how to keep a partner community engaged over the long run.
Enablement and training experience matter. You've delivered presales enablement or technical training to channel partners or vendors, and you know how to turn a product release into content a partner's own team can sell and demo confidently.
Indirect sales instincts set you apart. You've worked in a sales environment, especially indirect/channel sales, and you bring real commercial and business acumen to how you prioritize partner time and investment.
Technical depth grounds every conversation. You have hands-on knowledge across Mimecast's Human Risk Management platform: email security, insider risk and data loss prevention, security awareness training, brand and domain protection, and AI-powered threat intelligence, along with the environments partners deploy it into, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, identity and directory services, and collaboration platforms like Slack and Teams. You can present technical concepts confidently, tailored to whoever is in the room.
Requirements
- Demonstrated track record of managing technical relationships
- Presales enablement or training experience with Channel partners or vendors
- Experience working in a sales environment, especially indirect sales
- Ability to present technical concepts in a confident and articulate manner tailored to the audience
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of email security, insider risk/DLP, security awareness training, and brand/domain protection, along with experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Working knowledge of corporate and enterprise IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, networking, TCP/IP, VDI, Citrix, Terminal Services, and application virtualization
- Strong team player who can work cross-functionally across Channel, Customer Experience, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with adjacent security infrastructure such as Crowdstrike, Netskope, or Palo Alto mail/gateway solutions, EPP, SIEM, or DLP
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude) to aid in day-to-day enablement and content development
- Relevant industry certifications (vendor-specific, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)
What We Offer
- Hybrid working: balance between office and home that works for you and the team
- The chance to be the technical face of Mimecast within a leading National Partner community
- Room to grow your career in a company that values technical people who can also build partnerships
- The chance to work across a broad and growing platform: email security, insider risk, awareness training, archiving, and more, not just one narrow niche
- Opportunities to represent Mimecast at partner and industry events, webinars, and speaking engagements; we actively support building thought leadership and public profile
