Position Overview
The Global Travel and Expense Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with company policies, evaluating employee travel data, and resolving travel and expense-related issues. This role focuses on data accuracy, policy compliance, ticket resolution, and providing actionable insights to drive strategic decisions. The candidate will identify trends, opportunities for policy improvements, and cost savings while collaborating with global teams to enhance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance and Policy Management
- Ensure adherence to company policies related to reimbursable expenses, travel policies, and receipt documentation.
- Review and analyze expense reports to confirm compliance with established guidelines and approve/reject submissions based on company policy.
- Clearly communicate expense policies and guidelines to employees, providing support and guidance to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Identify and track opportunities for policy enhancements based on data analysis to optimize travel costs and improve employee experience.
- Research best practices and develop recommendations for policy updates.
2. Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze travel and expense data using tools like Navan and Excel or similar databases to identify trends, anomalies, areas for improvement, and potential savings.
- Generate reports on expense trends and compliance metrics from Navan.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management to improve efficiency and adherence to policies.
3. Audit and Resolution
- Conduct regular audits of expenses to detect discrepancies and ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Investigate anomalies or issues during the audit process and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Resolve Travel and Expense support tickets, including troubleshooting system integration errors (e.g., Navan, Workday), fixing travel booking errors, and educating end users.
- Manage tickets end-to-end in a time-sensitive manner using tools like Zendesk.
4. Visualization and Presentation
- Create dashboards, charts, and graphs to effectively communicate findings and tell a story about travel and expense patterns, compliance metrics, and system issues.
5. Collaboration and Implementation
- Work closely with the Global Travel Manager and Data Analytics Team to develop accurate, data-driven dashboards that provide ongoing insights into travel and expense metrics.
- Collaborate with the Travel team to improve system messaging and reduce ticket creation numbers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in travel and expense auditing and support.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in travel and expense auditing, preferably in a corporate or technology environment.
Skills and Technical Proficiency
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret multi-system data (e.g., Navan, Zendesk) and resolve issues clearly and concisely.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables.
- Familiarity with travel and expense management software (e.g., Navan) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to take ownership of tickets and other work products in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a global team environment.

The base salary range for this position is 384 000,00 −576 000, 00 ZAR plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills. Final offers will reflect these considerations and may vary accordingly.
